Swiss author Friedrich Dürrenmatt (1921-1990) is probably the most famous German-language playwright of the 20th century after Bertolt Brecht. His plays "The Physicists" and "The Visit" have been performed all over the world. "The Meteor" shares with them Dürrenmatt's trademark black humor and a dizzyingly farcical plot, as well as the combination of hilarious absurdity with ethical-philosophical questions about life.
