The IBS (International Brecht Society) is a non-profit, educational organization with world-wide membership. This website is maintained as a service to scholars, critics, students and theater people around the world who are interested in the works and thought of Bertolt Brecht.
Below is a short list of the contents of this site:
This page lists notices of events, conferences, and theater productions; such items are usually listed under Announcements.
Older announcements, as well as information relating to the 1998 Brecht Centennary can be found in the IBS Archive.
Visitors may also be interested in two publications of the IBS: Communcations and the IBS Yearbook.
Those interested in theater may wish to visit our page on the Berliner Ensemble.
A bibliography of current works is also provided, and a list of Brecht's works translated into English has also been made available.
This site provides links to several current and recent articles on Brecht, productions of his works, etc. An attempt has been made to provide an extensive bibliography of recent works on Brecht, his life, and works. We cannot and do not provide Brecht's works online (such as plays and poems); please check your local library or bookstore for Brecht's works and the books listed in our bibliography. If you are interested in how particular works are staged, you may wish to search through the list of current and archived theater productions; many listings provide a web-site and/or e-mail contacts.
E-mail addresses for contacting the Managing Editor and the Technical Advisor of the site are provided on the main page, and for your convenience we have also provided a Suggestion Box so that you can easily drop us a line to ask questions about and express your opinions on the site. We will attempt to get back to you promptly if you provide an e-mail address.
