Support the Department of German's Endowment and Trust Funds!

Self-education may be cheap, but a university education is not, especially the excellent education offered by the German Department at the University of Wisconsin. While income from the Wisconsin State Legislature and tuition fees help cover many of our projects and some of our outstanding students, the real difference between the good and great depends on the financial support we receive from generous alumnae/i, who contribute amounts ranging from a few dollars to several hundred, and sometimes even more. We are able to invest these donations through the UW Foundation and use the earnings to cover a wide range of undergraduate and graduate scholarships, stipends for study abroad, and various cultural or academic programs that enrich the German Department's offerings. You make the difference!

Scholarship and Award Funds

    • A small grant for a student of German literature. 
  • Hohlfield Memorial Scholarship Fund

    • A small scholarship for a student of German. 
  • Harriet Sauthoff Kronke Scholarship Fund

    • A small grant for a student interested in the advanced study of German. 
  • Julia Stern Scholarship Fund

    • A small grant-in-aid for a student to complete the study of German in Germany.

    • A small scholarship for a student of German. 
  • Dr. Karl Oscar and Theodora Pisk Fund

    • An annual scholarship for an undergraduate student in the German Department. 
  • Arthur R. Schultz Fellowship Fund

    • A scholarship to support graduate students in the German Department. 
  • The Lester W.J. Seifert Award

    • A small grant to support a graduate student in the field of Germanic Linguistics.
